September 25, 2013
The Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (UK) and Sardine Dance Collective are happy to announce the merger of the two organisations. This merger will enable disabled people and the community more choice and access to dance and dance sport across the UK with the experience of Ballroom & Latin as a Sport with WDSA (UK) and Sardine’s vast experience in Contemporary Dance.
Sue Cummings Chair of Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (UK), says “the merger with Sardine Dance Collective should happen swiftly, and will enable us to open more opportunities for disabled people to not only access wheelchair dance as a sport but as a creative activity as well.”
In a joint statement, they said: “Both organisations play an important role in connecting wheelchair users and disabled people, to wheelchair dance and wheelchair dance sport across the UK.”
Charlene Low, Director of Sardine Dance Collective, said “We hope to have the full merger completed by the end of October, and that this development will enable more people to access opportunities not only around wheelchair dance sport but around wheelchair dance.”
